PENSÉES NOCTURNES "NOM D'UNE PIPE !" CD
“Nom d’une Pipe !” is more than an avant-garde metal album, as Vaehohn presents its vision of music, simultaneously combining a number of influences. It is a contemporary, even grotesque composition, in which Vaerohn manages to create a homogenous piece painting a peculiar story of a thousand sub-plots and atmospheres. Base, accordeon, trumpet, horn, tuba, saxophone, English horn, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, piano, flute, trombone, violin, cello... there are as many instruments as there are distressed characters, but who are ridiculously joyful and proud. Clowns, monsters, fun fair animals with a sadistic grin on their face. It swings, it dances, it makes no sense, it’s picturesque to everyone’s delight, and it’s amazing.
Even after listening to the album dozens of times, it reveals subtleties, discrete musical arrangements, which are primary details. It transports you into a picturesque circus and takes an even more surrealist dimension once you slip on a pair of headphones.
