Words by Laurent Lignon :

Devotion.

A word that’s overused today in a Black Metal scene where some elements seem to have lost the sense of the values that once made this genre more than just a style of music.

A word that can, however, continue to be associated with a handful of honest bands, for whom Black Metal is not simply music but also a religious exaltation. Among them, MALHKEBRE is a name that needs no introduction. Active since 2002, the band is a spiritual vehicle for its singer/founder Eklezjas’Tik Berzerk, accompanied by his acolytes Shamaanik B. (drums) and S. Evangelista (guitars/bass).

After making their mark on the underground with their first two albums, « Revelation » (2014) and « Satanic Resistance » (2019), MALHKEBRE reawakened in 2023 with a tape featuring two tracks announcing a future album. As a prelude to this opus announced for the end of 2025, the EP “To Those Who Forged Us” is released, which presents a new side of MALHKEBRE: heavier, darker, more ritualistic and declamatory, “To Those Who Forged Us” is not only the announcement of a new era for the band, but a tribute to those who contributed to fueling the fire that burns in the heart and mind of MALHKEBRE. On the B-side, the judicious choice of a cover of “You Want It Darker” by Canadian poet Leonard Cohen is also a declaration of war in the face of those who had buried MALHKEBRE too soon.

Bearers of a Sacred Word made of pain, violence and resistance, MALHKEBRE is preparing to travel the European roads for the first time in a decade: “To Those Who Forged Us” sounds like the clamor of a tocsin calling the faithful to gather to listen, then to spread the Word. And thus allow the dark flame of MALHKEBRE to once again consume the souls of those who hear His call.
